Our ninth season concludes with an explosion collision of Baroque and modern music. Baroque-inspired works by Guillaume Connesson, and Valerie Coleman build upon the stately introduction provided by Vivaldi’s concerto for oboe, flute, violin, bassoon, and continuo. The program concludes with Astor Piazzolla’s “Four Seasons of Buenos,” a not-so-subtle nod to Vivaldi’s famous collection, but with a strong tango flavor.
Antonio Vivaldi, Concerto in D major, RV 94
Guillaume Connesson, Sextet for oboe, clarinet, violin, viola, double bass, and piano
Valerie Coleman, “Trio Toccata”
Astor Piazzolla, “Four Seasons of Buenos Aires”
