Miles Fellenberg, piano
American pianist Miles Fellenberg is regularly invited as a pianist, conductor, and educator throughout the United States and abroad. Praised by Cleveland Classical for performing with “fiery energy” and by The Boston Musical Intelligencer for making “all of the dazzling harmony and interior voice-leading” clear, Fellenberg is known for his versatility, extensive repertoire, and wide-ranging work with instrumentalists, singers, pianists, choruses, and new music ensembles.
Fellenberg has performed in recital, chamber music, and lecture/masterclass settings at The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory, Harvard University, Yale University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dartmouth College, Syracuse University, University of Massachusetts, Jersey City University, New York University, City University of New York, the University of Scranton, and Berklee College of Music. His performances have taken place at notable venues including Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, Jordan Hall, the Museum of Modern Art, 92nd Street Y, Cleveland Museum of Art, the Old State House, and internationally in Italy, China, South Korea, Ecuador, and Mexico.
Fellenberg is Music Director of the Bronx County Chorus and performs with Harold Rosenbaum and the New York Virtuoso Singers. He has appeared with Ensemble/Parallax, CØDA Ensemble, and the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble, with whom he appears on the album A place toward other places. He previously served as Assistant Conductor of the Central City Chorus in Manhattan and has worked with professional, collegiate, and community singers on opera, art song, and choral repertoire.
Fellenberg is on the faculty at New England Conservatory, where he teaches piano, chamber music, and music history in the Preparatory Division and Ear Training, Keyboard Skills, and Vocal Coaching in the College Division. He is also on the faculty of InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy. He has served as a staff pianist, guest teacher, or adjudicator for institutions and programs including The Juilliard School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Aspen Music Festival and School, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division, National Youth Orchestra of the USA, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, El Conservatorio Franz Liszt in Quito, and Chageun-Byeol Music Academy in Seoul. He founded and directed the New Jersey Young Artist Piano Competition, which provided scholarships, masterclasses, workshops, and performance opportunities for gifted pre-college pianists.
A native of Verona, New Jersey, Fellenberg holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from New England Conservatory, a Master of Music from The Juilliard School, a Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory, and a Precollege Diploma from Manhattan School of Music. His principal teachers include Jonathan Feldman, Cameron Stowe, Margo Garrett, Robert Shannon, and Arkady Aronov.
