At the heart of ACMF is our commitment to showcasing the sonic possibilities of the classical idiom. This concert offers a program of impassioned music, with each piece featuring an ensemble drawn from multiple instrumental families. From the edge-of-your seat excitement of Marc Mellits’ “SPAM,” to the contemplative and solemn “Threnodies,” by Aaron Copland, each work offers new sounds and new ways of understanding music. The program culminates with Mozart’s joyous Quintet for Piano and Winds, a seminal work in the wind chamber music repertoire.
Marc Mellits - Spam for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano
Aaron Copland - Threnodies for flute and string trio
Andrea Clearfield - Three Songs after Poems by Pablo Neruda for violin and double bass
W.A. Mozart - Quintet for piano and winds, K. 452
